"You make our town shine, even at an international level": Besse-sur-Issole athletes honored at town hall for their performances this season

The mayor of Besse-sur-Issole, Eric Collin , and his deputies, held a warm, informal event to honor the deserving athletes of the commune of Gaspard. "My council and I salute your competitiveness. For many years, our commune has shone at the local, regional, national, and even international level, for certain disciplines such as baton twirling. Each of your results, each of your exploits, whatever your sporting discipline, makes Besse-sur-Issole vibrate. We congratulate you and encourage you. And I remain convinced that the best is yet to come..." , said the mayor, before calling the recipients of two volumes of comic books retracing the history of Besse.
Tennis, judo, baton twirling and footballThe heroes of the day were, in no particular order, Perle Lafarge , from the Tennis Club. Last February, she won the youth open tournament in the 13-14 age category.
Eléna Krason and Elina Olivieri , who represented Judo Racing 83, have both qualified for the regional championships.
For the Twirling club bessois, it was the French baton twirling champion team in 2024 which was rewarded, namely Gwendoline Beaudoin , Jason Cierp, Antonin Belotti, Grégoire Wesley, Clarisse Cros, Anyssa Bensalah, Océane Rey and Liza Vankerckvoorde.
Finally, Besse Sports, a veteran recreational football team created two years ago, moved from group 3 to group 1, taking the top spots in these highly contested football championships.
